Managing partner of Rappaport, Aserkoff & Gelles to serve as one of four MBF officers in 2012

BOSTON - February 3, 2012 - New Boston Fund, Inc., a private equity real estate investment, development and management firm, announced today that Janet Aserkoff, Esq., managing partner of its affiliated law firm, Rappaport, Aserkoff & Gelles, has been elected Treasurer of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, the Commonwealth's premiere legal charity and the philanthropic partner of the Massachusetts Bar Association.

Aserkoff first became a Massachusetts Bar Foundation fellow in 1980. For the last 32 years, she has been an active member in many ways, including her participation in the Foundation's annual grant application review process. In recognition of her strong support of the organization, Aserkoff received the MBF President's Award in 2009, and was elected trustee in 2010.

Aserkoff's career has spanned more than 40 years during which she has developed an expertise in real estate law, and has acted as general counsel to New Boston since its founding in 1993. In this position, Aserkoff is responsible for all acquisitions, financing, leasing, joint venture negotiations, sales, and development for New Boston.

As Treasurer of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, Aserkoff will be responsible for overseeing the Foundation's financial affairs, ensuring that the MBF utilizes its resources as effectively as possible to meet its mission.

Aserkoff also served on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Rashi School in Newton, Mass., and is a founding member of the Boston Jewish Community Women's Fund. This Fund awards grants and creates supporting programs that work to provide remedies to the women and girls affected by issues such as abuse, empowerment and education.

Aserkoff graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke in 1965 with an A.B. in economics, and went on to earn her J.D. degree from Emory University in 1968. An active volunteer on behalf of her alma matter, Aserkoff served on the Board of Trustees of Mount Holyoke from 2006-2011, she chaired the Alumnae Fund's first million dollar annual campaign in 1976, served on the Alumnae Association's Board of Directors, and is the recipient of its Medal of Honor, which is awarded for outstanding service to the association.
