Mr. Rappaport has over 40 years of real estate investment and development experience and has spearheaded the $300 million redevelopment of the former Boston State Hospital site into Olmsted Green, the largest non-institutional development in the neighborhood incorporated approximately 750 units of mixed-income rental and home-ownership housing. In 1992, Mr. Rappaport, co-founded New Boston Fund and became its President, a position he held until 2010. From 1981 to 1989 he served as Director of Development/Senior Associate for Halcyon, Ltd. in Hartford, CT, where he oversaw a number of development projects, including the redevelopment of Union Station in Hartford, CT and served as a consultant to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG) program. From 1989 until 1992, he served as Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Finance for Charles River Properties, Ltd in Boston, MA.
Mr. Rappaport has served President of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. He was Member of the Board of Directors for the MA Chapter of NAIOP and founding co-Chairman of the Commonwealth Housing Taskforce. He has filled long term Steering Committee and Program Committee leadership roles at the local and national levels of the Urban Land Institute. He is also active in the Rental Housing Association, Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), Pension and Real Estate Association (PREA), National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers (NAREIM), Real Estate Finance Association (REFA), and MIT Center for Real Estate. Mr. Rappaport has been a long-term visiting lecturer at the Kennedy School of Government and is a founding member of the Harvard Real Estate Academic Initiative.
Mr. Rappaport received an AB from Harvard College and a Master of City and Regional Planning from the Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Graduate School of Design at Harvard University.
